Nominations open for prestigious individual tourism award

The Horwath HTL Sir Jack Newman Award is the most prestigious individual award within the tourism industry. Nominations open today and the winner will be announced at a special event in October.
This award is for an outstanding individual. It recognises their service, their achievements and the long term benefits to the industry from their passion, vision and personal commitment to supporting and growing tourism in New Zealand.
Previous recipients include:
2008 - Kiyomi Gunji, Southern Travel Holdings Ltd
2007 - Rodney Walshe, Walshe Group Ltd
2006 - George Harford, co-founder of the Agrodome, Rotorua
2005 - Peter Lowry, former Chief Executive of the Travel Agents Association and Inbound Tour Operators Council
This award can go to a person in recognition of the work they have already achieved or to a current tourism industry leader. If you know someone who deserves this honour please go to the Tourism Industry Awards website www.tourismawards.co.nz and download the nomination form.
Nominations close on 31 August 2009. The winner will be decided by a panel of judges from across the industry.
