Simon Wallace
Policy & Research Manager

Simon’s role sees him tackle a diverse range of issues that affect members’ businesses, from ACC, GST and employment legislation to immigration, air passenger taxes and mining on conservation land. He also manages TIA’s strategic relationship with local government and oversees the organisation’s research and data programme.

Simon makes submissions to all levels of government, presents often to tourism industry forums, and talks to TIA members to understand the issues facing their businesses. He brings a solid background in tourism and the government sector to the job, including a stint as a travel agent in New Zealand and Britain, and more recently as a ministerial advisor in the Beehive.

Outside of work Simon spends time with his family, enjoys gardening and the outdoors, and is a keen follower of New Zealand and international current affairs.
