Congratulations to our winners!

Congratulations to the winners of the 2011 TIA photo competition ‘Living the New Zealand Dream’, sponsored by Mercury Energy.

Winning photo
The winning photo is ‘Perfect View’ (above), was taken by Lydia Butler of MOTAT – Museum of Transport and Technology in Auckland.

Lydia says while taking in the panoramic views from Auckland’s North Head, she spotted a paraglider and felt the grace with which he glided to and fro in front of Rangitoto Island epitomised the sublime nature of New Zealand landscapes. “I chose this particular image because the composition encapsulates a wonderful sense of open space and timelessness that represents living the dream in New Zealand for me.”

Mercury Energy 'energy of tourism' winner
Congratulations also to Jon Davies of NZONE Skydive Queenstown. Jon’s ‘freefalling at terminal velocity above Queenstown in the heart of the Southern Alps’ won the Mercury Energy ‘Energy of Tourism’ prize. Jon also wins a $1000 Telecom gift voucher.

People's choice prize
Silvina Guardia of Magic Memories won the “People’s Choice” award. Her photo showing visitors experiencing Northland nature received more than 300 ‘likes’ on TIA’s Facebook page. Silvina wins a $100 gift voucher.

The three photos feature in TIA’s 2012 calendar, which has been distributed free to TIA members.
